Welcome to the World Federation of ADHD
Dear Colleagues,
The World Federation of ADHD - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder - was founded in Zürich (Switzerland) in 2008. On the occasion of the 2nd International Congress on ADHD, the first General Assembly was held at the Hofburg Convention Center, Vienna, Austria on 22nd May 2009.
The following members were elected for the board:
President: Professor Andreas Warnke, Germany
Vice-President: Professor Peter Riederer, Austria
Secretary General: Professor Johannes Thome, United Kingdom
Treasurer: Professor Manfred Gerlach, Germany
The objective and mission of the World Federation of ADHD is to support and promote worldwide clinical and scientific study projects, including training activities in the field of ADHD (Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder) and related disorders. To also support the exchange of information between scientists, physicians, health experts, ADHD lay organisations, self-help groups, and the public; to collaborate with other related professional and lay organizations.
We therefore invite members of this global federation to contribute their proposals and initiatives which would help towards developing objectives for the federation who can then begin to work on productive projects.
I am delighted to inform you of the following initiatives that we have organised to-date.
• The 3rd International Congress on ADHD in Berlin, Germany, to be held from 26th/29th May 2011. On behalf of the Chair of the Scientific Program Committee, Professor Manfred Gerlach, and me, the President of this Congress, take pleasure in inviting you to Berlin. An excellent collection of scientific sessions will be prepared based on suggestions from members of the International Scientific Program Committee: interactive educational seminars, plenary lectures delivered by prize winning scientists, hot topic symposia, video sessions and guided poster tours. Young scientists are especially encouraged to present their recent finding in Young Scientist Sessions and thus benefit from the congress.
• Members of the "International Research Group Meetings on ADHD" are cordially invited to submit proposals for these meetings.
• The foundation of the journal ADHD Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder, a new peer-reviewed scientific journal publishing basic and clinical research contributing to the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of all psychiatric syndromes in which ADHD may be a feature (www.springer.com/springerwiennewyork/medicine/journal/12402). This journal is the official scientific journal of the Federation of ADHD. The first issue, including five peer-reviewed articles, and the abstracts from the Second International Congress on ADHD was published in May 2009.
The goal of the editor is to publish four journals per year and to achieve a significant impact factor within the next three years. We hope readers from all over the world will participate in the development of this journal and contribute to its success by informing their friends and co-workers about the new platform and consider it for their next publication.
The Federation looks forward to receiving your valid comments, and please, contact us, should you have any specific initiatives and ideas to share.
With kind regards

Andreas Warnke
President of the World Federation of ADHD
