Scientific Papers - February 2022

This month the WFADHD wants to highlight the following two papers:

Chen et al. published a population-based study that examined whether children with ADHD have higher rates for visits to the emergency department due to infectious diseases and whether this risk is influenced by treatment with methylphenidate. Children with ADHD had higher rates of emergency visits than those without ADHD. The rate of hospitalization is reduced by MPH treatment.

In the second paper, Yuchi et al. also conducted a population-based cohort study and investigated neighborhood environmental exposures and incidence of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Here, they analyzed associations of ADHD incidence with greenspace, air pollution, and noise in a population-based birth cohort. Yuchi et al. concluded that there is a higher risk of ADHD for children living in higher air pollution areas with lower greenspace exposure.
